The products set standards when it comes to quality and innovation and are constantly producing new trends. In 2008, the company’s own “Mammut Alpine School” was founded, in order to enable customers to test and learn how to use the mountaineering products under professional supervision.
The beginning as a small family-run company
Who would have thought that the foundation stone for today’s internationally active company would have been laid 154 years ago by a young Swiss rope maker? In 1862, Kaspar Tanner started a small family-run company. Within 100 years it had developed into a successful company with 53 employees and a turnover that had risen 30-fold. In the 70’s Mammut once again increased its development activities for the recreation segment and was soon not only developing ropes, but also sleeping bags, clothing and tents for the sports area as well as various mountaineering products that were to revolutionize the market: in 1978, Mammut presented the “Altitude” jackets and trousers range using the GoreTex material, which was absolutely new back then. Mammut has meanwhile grown into a globally active company with more 550 employees around the world.
Mammut not only stands out with its products
In addition to the products, Mammut also stands out due to its innovative marketing. One of its most spectacular projects was the 150 Peak Project to mark the company’s anniversary, for example, during which Mammut fans, employees, athletes and mountain guides climbed a total of 150 peaks. But the Key Visual Shooting 2015 on the Matterhorn left a lasting impression as well, and also won numerous prizes, just like #project360, during which Mammut has been climbing snowy mountains and sheer cliff faces since 2014 with 360° cameras, in order to provide users at home with impressive all-round views of the mountains.
Impressive performance of the Mammut Pro Team
The athletes in the Mammut Pro Team are involved in many of these projects. This team consists of professional free riders, snowboarders, climber and trail runners, who share their passion for the alpine landscapes with Mammut. Mammut supports these world class athletes and is proud of their success. The athletes in the Mammut Pro Team are dependent on uncompromising functionality and quality during their activities and test the equipment under the harshest of conditions – at the highest possible level around the world. Their findings are used continuously to improve the products while providing important stimulus for further innovations from the house of Mammut.
